Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance and I am considered out of network for all insurances. Some people have out of network benefits through their insurance for speech therapy.
Do you have an office space/location?
I provide teletherapy services, sessions at select local libraries, and in-home services for an additional fee.
What areas in Austin do you travel to?
I travel throughout the Austin area, depending on scheduling. I travel to homes, local libraries, and daycares/afterschool programs. I also provide online speech therapy.
Is online speech therapy really as effective as in-person speech therapy?
Yes! Several research studies have found teletherapy to be as effective as in-person speech therapy for many children, including autistic children and children who have difficulty with speech and language skills. I have been providing online speech therapy services for years and I’ve helped children with communication and feeding needs including developing early communication skills, pronouncing speech sounds, literacy/language, and using AAC to communicate. Every child and family has different needs. For many people, virtual speech therapy is a great fit and works well!
What specialized training in speech therapy have you completed?
Pediatric Feeding Disorders:
I have completed the SOFFI® (Supportive Oral Feeding for Fragile Infants), AEIOU: An Integrated Approach to Pediatric Feeding®, and assisted in the STEPS Program (Supportive Treatment for Extreme-Picky Eaters) at the Callier Center in Dallas.
AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication):
In addition to my experience providing services at a telehealth AAC clinic using touch access and eye gaze, I am LAMP WFL Certified®, UNITY® Certified, and have completed extensive continuing education with Tobii-Dynavox and PRC-Saltillo.
Speech Sound Disorders/Apraxia:
During my graduate school training I had the opportunity to provide services for a specialized program for preschoolers with phonological processing disorders. In addition, I have completed Edythe Strands Child Apraxia Treatment courses and been trained in the DTTC model.
Reading/Literacy:
In addition to my traditional training to support language/literacy comprehension and narrative language, I have completed “The Reading SLP” course focused on a structured approach to teaching decoding and phonological awareness.
